Calgary Cooktops: Hard Water, Cleaning, and the Glass-Ceramic Problem

Calgary's water hardness affects stove tops in a way most homeowners never think about through cleaning. Every time you wipe down a smoothtop or induction surface with tap water, you leave a thin mineral film that bonds to the glass-ceramic. Over months, that film builds into a hazy white crust, especially around the burner perimeters where heat repeatedly drives off the water and concentrates the minerals. Sixth, for any cooktop, never run a burner empty or with an undersized pan that does not cover the heating element both shorten element life dramatically.
